Swedish supplier triples astaxanthin capacity at US plant

Fuji-owned Swedish carotenoid player AstaReal has tripled its algae-sourced astaxanthin capacity with a new plant in Washington State in the US.

The 5500 square metre facility will employ 45 people and kick into life in July. It gives AstaReal an production presence on both side of the Atlantic as it continues with its Swedish plant in Gustavsberg for the nutrient and colourant.

AstaReal said the site was chosen as it offers a, “pure water and renewable electrical energy”.
